We hope you all have a wonderful and safe summer holiday, whatever you have planned. School will reopen for the children on Thursday 2nd September.
Ashingdon is a primary school with approximately 220 pupils, ranging from reception to year six. Pupils join us mainly from the villages of Ashingdon and South Fambridge, as well as from parts of Hockley, Canewdon, Rochford and Hullbridge. We are fortunate enough to be set in open green-belt countryside.
The accommodation is made up of 10 well-equipped classrooms, each with their own interactive whiteboard. We also have 2 libraries, a large hall and an ICT suite. One of our libraries has recently been equipped with the latest technology, enabling the children to use it as a lending library. A classroom has also been converted into a food technology room, where the children are able to cook in small groups, as well as being used by our cookery club.
Our school grounds comprise spacious playground areas, a large field, the ever-popular 'Jungle Gym' and the brand new 'Trim trail'. On our field, we have several pagodas where the children are able to eat their packed lunches when the weather is fine. There is a separate Early Years garden, where the reception children play for their first year of school. We also have our very own swimming pool. We have a recently-developed Environmental Area, used as a quiet area during break times. This has its own outdoor classroom, maze seating, a story-teller's
chair and a stage for the children to use during drama-based activities.
We are an active school and there is always something 'happening'. In fact, the school really buzzes! Come and see how.
I hope you can tell from our website the things that are important to us as a school. We like our school and hope that you will enjoy this ‘virtual tour’ of it with us.
